Designed by Nathalie Schellekens, the Tape Chair originated from the question of how leather offcuts could be given a new purpose within contemporary design.

The chair’s distinctive rounded leather straps at the back, crafted from leftover leather from our production process, connect the frame and backrest in a subtle yet elegant way. This signature detail brings together material awareness, craftsmanship and character in a recognisable Jess design feature.

Fully produced in the Netherlands, the Tape Chair embodies quality, sustainability and local craftsmanship.

designer note

For designer Nathalie Schellekens, design is more than a profession; it is a way of life. Driven by curiosity and a desire to explore new techniques and materials, she creates designs with their own story and character. This vision comes together in the Tape Chair for Jess.

Inspired by the potential of leftover materials, Nathalie found a new purpose for surplus pieces of leather from the production process. The chair’s distinctive leather straps at the back not only serve as a refined design detail but also reveal the construction, enhancing the unique character of the design.
